Pinnaplasty (Ear Pinning)
A cosmetic surgery to pin back ears that stick out excessively

Pinnaplasty or otoplasty is an ear correction cosmetic surgery in which we resize, reshape, and pin back ears that stick out.
In most people, the ears protrude about 2 cm and at an angle of 20-30 degrees from the sides of the head. People who have more prominent ears that stick out at a larger angle than this can find their appearance bothersome. Prominent ears usually run in the family but can occur randomly as well.
The pinna is the outer ear. Pinnaplasty refers to a surgical reshaping and repositioning of the pinna to improve a person’s appearance. At Venus Medical, we treat adults only, under local anaesthesia.
To perform a pinnaplasty or ear pinning procedure, Mr Shadab I. Ahmad uses local anaesthesia and makes an incision behind the ear. He then applies sutures to permanently hold back the ear in a more aesthetically pleasing position. The procedure may also include some cartilage remodelling or removal to give a more pleasing shape to the outer ear.
You can find out if you are a suitable candidate for pinnaplasty (ear pinning surgery) during a consultation with our experienced consultant plastic surgeon at Venus Medical.
