Inverted Nipple Surgery
A permanent solution to surgically correct inverted nipples.
Men and women can have inverted nipples that appear unattractive and make them self-conscious. Surgery to correct inverted nipples in women can be done with partial preservation of the milk ducts, allowing patients who undergo this procedure to breastfeed in the future. The procedure can also be performed by cutting the milk ducts, in which case breastfeeding will no longer be possible. Nipple sensation remains intact after inverted nipple surgery.
In some cases, indented or inverted nipples are temporary and reverse with stimulation or temperature changes. However, some people have permanently inverted nipples and want correction of this for aesthetic reasons. The only way to permanently draw out the nipples is through surgery.
To correct inverted nipples, Mr Ahmad uses local anaesthesia and makes an incision at the base of the nipple. With the nipple still attached, he then lifts the nipple and areola and sews them back in a protruding position. The procedure can also be done by detaching the milk ducts, which makes the nipple protrude. However, women who undergo nipple inversion correction with this surgical approach won’t be able to breastfeed in the future.
