JAWLINE DEFINITION & MASCULINE CHEEKBONES
Why focus on jawline and cheekbones?
When cheekbones and the surrounding areas look sunken and hollow, fillers are your best treatment option. A filler can lift the outer corner of the cheek, adding volume, but this will also mean the under-eye and cheeks look more in proportion. Cheek enhancement offers a more defined and sculpted profile, and younger look without looking done or feminine.
By lifting the cheeks, other features are subtly lifted, too, like the corners of the mouth and jawline, which gives a nicer contour to the face.
A profile featuring a strong and defined chin and jawline is always more attractive in a man than the antithesis. Unfortunately, some men do lose their jawline and chin definition as the aging process progresses. Skeletal recession and facial atrophy (slow-rate muscle shrinkage) are especially unkind to weak chins.
What do the procedures involve?
The filler is delivered using a pre-filled sterile syringe equipped with a very fine needle that is inserted into the deep layer of the skin. Local anesthetic is not considered necessary due to the naturally more fleshy nature of the cheeks.
As for those requiring jawline definition, the process begin with anaesthetic to the area. Dr. Peter Prendergast will place the filler via a few tiny injections in the chin area. Results are visible immediately. After the procedure you are free to continue with your daily routine as normal.
What are the risks associated with use of dermal fillers?
Hyaluronic acid fillers have been FDA tested before being allowed onto the market. They are extremely safe with a low reported incidence of side effects, the most common being mild bruising and swelling. Discontinuation of Vitamin E and fish oil the week before your appointment and use of arnica tablets afterwards will help those who are especially prone to bruising. You should also not use blood thinners such as aspirin before or after treatment.
How long do results last?
Dr. Peter Prendergast does not employ any permanent fillers at Venus Medical. You can expect fillers to last 6-9 months, depending on the filler used. Some may last up to 18 months.
