What are thread veins?

Thread veins, also known as telangiectasia or spider veins, are a commonly treated facial and bodily concern at Venus Medical. Studies suggest that more than half of us will have to deal with these persistent blemishes at some point in our life. Certain factors, such as standing at work for long periods, exposure to sunlight and cold temperature, and genetic predisposition increase the risk. Fluctuating hormones, for example during pregnancy, can also negatively alter your vascular system, causing these blue and red pigment irregularities.

When small blood vessels, called capillaries, dilate and fail to shrink back again, the blood is spilled out and causes permanent red or blue discoloration. That is until now. Aesthetic medicine has looked at this phenomenon for many years, learning that the majority of lasers offer only limited and often mediocre results for sufferers, particularly those that have stubborn thread veins. For these people, Dr. Peter Prendergast has saught to provide the best methods of thread vein removal.

What is the best way to get rid of thread veins?

Treatment centres on the VBeam Perfecta, a vascular laser which has been developed to deliver perfected results on specific pigments only. Thread veins can be treated anywhere on the body, but are most common on the face, usually on the cheeks or nose, and the legs.

With an advanced and unrivaled ability to take the red out, VBeam specifically targets red, blue and purple colours in the dermis, for even the smallest spider veins on the face and body, and for the control of redness.
